"And They All Admired Her Spots"

Well, my visit with Ms. Chick went well for the most part.  We visited the Botanical Gardens and had a lovely day.  They next day we went to a local farm.  I thought she might enjoy meeting some new folks of her own kind, as she was feeling lonely after her travel companions left for Pennsylvania. But she experienced a strange reaction!  There was fowl play when the others all stood aside and exclaimed to each other "Look at those spots!"  "I wonder where she got them?"  "On Amazon do you think?".  Well, Ms. Chick felt as if she did not fit in, even though they were actually admiring her spots.  So we drove home, and she was pretty silent all the way.  But by the next morning, the day of her departure, she was back to her usual "sunny" self.   Safe journey, Miss Chick!

Traveling Chicken and Entourage Arrive in Downingtown, Pennsylvania

TC and entourage arrived safely in Downingtown, Pennsylvania!!  Thankfully, UPS alerted me by email that she had settled down in my mailbox, patiently waiting to be escorted to the house and studio.  I say thankfully because it was quite warm outside for a traveling chicken to be baking in the sun.

Avery (our lab puppy) and I made the long trek down to the mailbox to greet TC and friends.  They were quite relieved to be able to get out of their hot traveling compartment and socialize, that they did not even mind the puppy antics and kisses that Avery "forced" on them.

After a long play session with Avery, the chickens were hot and tired, but were up to exploring the rest of the house/yard and studio.  Tc and the gang perked up when they were offered a chance to sit by the spa (watergarden) to rest for a bit.  Meeting Mr. Bluefish, who governs the spa was the highlight of TC's day, much to Senior Gallo Azure's dismay....he was quite jealous of the attention she showered on Mr. Bluefish.

TC is tired from her travels, but assures me she is anxious to visit the studio tomorrow to have her portrait painted.....I promised her a chance to explore Downingtown with me afterward (we just moved here to Downingtown only a few weeks ago....a new house and new studio as well as a new town! TC and entourage are very enthusiastic to be the first to be invited into my studio, as well as to be in the first painting ever done in this brand new art studio!!)

One Adventurous Chick!

The Traveling Chick and her friends came for a short visit this weekend. Ms. Chick had lots of photos from previous travels. Two of the most interesting were Moscow and Alaska. Alaska was a bit harrowing because she ran across a wolf and could really relate to Little Red Riding Hood. Moscow was beautiful and very cultural. Many buildings are painted with pastel colors so as to alleviate the dreariness of the long cold winters. We could use some of that here in NE Illinois.

Beware of wolves in..well, wolves clothing!

Ms. Chick and friends will be traveling to Pennsylvania tomorrow. We had a relaxing visit and I took several pictures for painting this coming week.

Fledge Daily Painting #2208.5 by Lisa Daria

This bird (and company) arrived with quite the ambitious itinerary. Five days was just not enough time,
we barely had time to kayak with all the sightseeing. Luckily, the traveling chicken is also an early bird  and agreed to take part in my daily painting project, #2208.5 - Safe travels, chicken - thanks for visiting.

The Traveling Chicken

My contribution to the Traveling Chicken Project will have to be just this one.  I think it's a good one though huh?  But my, all the wiggling and trying to stay still... I must tell you it was all her idea to pose for this painting!  (The others were a little tired from their trip from Canada to Delaware...and then there was the mishap with the paparazzi...but don't ask them about it, cuz what happens in Delaware stays in Delaware.)

It's acrylic on a 5"x5" masonite board.  My blog is here
