MS CHICK FINALLY HIGH AND DRY AND RELAXING A BIT FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Ms. Chick and company have survived the flood and are safe, warm and finally relaxing a bit; before continuing their travels.  Here is an update from Lyn:

TC decided that she wasn’t interested in just looking at the tree, she wanted to be IN the tree so here she is.

She had a good time in there as you can see.
She and Bill, one of my cats, have struck up quite a friendship and here they are chatting about what they are going to do tomorrow.
She refuses to help in the trapping of mice and spends hours trying to explain to him that killing birds is just plain…WRONG !
We are hoping to bring home a new puppy on Sunday so there is a certain amount of discussion between, TC and the cats as to just how they are going to handle this.
Well, I hope.

Poor Ms. Chick and Company - TRAPPED!

The gang is on holiday with Lyn Evans from Scotland.  She thought it would be nice to take them with her; and was so excited to show them around.
Look what has happened whilst visiting Crumbia!  They are all trapped in Cumbria England from Storm Desmond!!!

The bridge home for Lyn is closed and there are 40 severe storm warnings in place for the Lancaster/Crumbia area as well as Lyn's home in Scotland.

Oh my gosh!  Let's keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers!

I think the gang is going to need a bit more vacation time in the UK after this ordeal to dry out.

Here are some weather pics from Lyn:

I or Lyn will keep you posted as more is available.

And the TC deed is done

I took the opportunity of good weather, that is 'no rain' , to take TC, entourage and our Corfe Castle chicken residents on the 'Road to Corfe Castle'. There was some debate as to where to next but I think their course is set ......Scotland in the Autumn sounds good.

TC and Gang arrive in Corfe Castle Dorset UK

Little did I know that on the day part of our family emigrated to Perth, Australia and left via one door the Travelling Chicken and friends would arrive by another . Corfe Castle in Dorset has never had a visit from TC before , or any travelling chicken that  I am aware of .
Corfe Castle and village from the common

Anyway , unpacked, introductions began.  It would be an understatement to say 'we are a chicken loving ' family so I did not expect quite such a stand off between residents and guests.
TC and Gang meet the residents
Let creativity begin .

TC and the Gang visit me for my birthday!

I was just off for a week long visit to Wales when TC and the gang showed up. So, I did the only right thing to do, I took them along with me! There was just enough room in my suitcase for all four.

Here they have arrived all safe and sound.

While we were there we took lots of walks in the countryside and Ms. Chick even found some Welsh cousins of hers!
Here he is all bandaged up.
Later we all (minus Senor Gallo Rozzo) celebrated my birthday with a homemade cake made by my sweet husband. I had them all pose for it whilst I quickly painted it!

TC AND THE GANG ARE BACK IN THE UK!!!

Ms. Chick got a bit homesick, and went rouge again and has found herself in the UK!  Luckily, a wonderful artist Paula Howson-Green lives in beautiful
Bournemouth!  The gang is so excited to be there, they have decided to go on a short holiday.  Can you blame them?  Just look at the beautiful beaches there!

Ms. Chick has forwarded Paula her location and the gang will be with her soon!  I can't wait to see pictures of their visit!

MS. CHICK AND THE GANG ARE IN COLORADO!

TC and her entourage are in Colorado with artist Kay Malouff who makes that most wonderful Stained Glass art!

Her art is beautiful!  I love her stained glass feathers, and am pretty sure that is going to be TC 's fav!

We are looking forward to hearing about their visit and to see the beautiful art you create of her while she is there!

CALLING ALL INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS!

Ms. Chick and/or her family and the gang would really enjoy traveling to more countries abroad!  If you are an artist and would like to be a host, please contact me to be added to the list!

Artist typically host the group for less than a week before sending on to the next artist; so the journey is moving on quickly and more artists are needed!

This sign up is still open to North American artist as well :)

The gang is having a quick rest here at my home and will be traveling to Colorado the end of this week.  And then across the pond on to the UK.

If there are any artist in the Europe area that would like to participate while she is there I can make sure she stops by to see you while she is nearby.

All the best and just keep creating beautiful works of art!

SUP Chicken

After their long flight TC and Friends needed some time to relax on the beach and take in the scenery of Esquimalt Lagoon and Fisgard Lighthouse. They even tried a little stand up paddle boarding.

After a couple days of relaxing they were ready to meet new friends at Glow Art Gallery in Metchosin where this month they are celebrating birds!! TC was a gracious model patiently posing while enjoying a cluck over coffee and cookies with all the artists who flock to the Gallery on Sundays to visit and create.

Bon Voyage TC.

TC and Friends visit Victoria, BC

We are all atwitter eager to meet the gang and hear about Miss Chick's travels. The Victorian Sandpiper Sisters eagerly took TC and friends under their wing planning a beach party and a day of rest and relaxation at Esquimalt Lagoon.

However TC's, like all travellers, first priority after landing was to catch up with friends via social media. Unfortunately she missed meeting Dominick the Traveling Donkey who was absent in parts unknown possibly Manitoba. DTD was last seen in March at Disney World with Jordy by way of Vietnam and Cambodia last fall. Who knows where he will turn up next! Maybe they will meet in "person" some day.

TChick in Alaska!

Traveling Chicken's visit
to the Alaska Panhandle was short but fun.

Her adventures here began on July 3rd!
Juneau celebrates Independence Day beginning with a fireworks display that starts 12:01am July 4th.
"Everybody" goes down to the docks or the beaches
on Douglas Island to see the
(That particular YouTube link is from someone who recorded from Mt Roberts,
which looms above the city.)

I signed up for TC about a year and a half ago, had to postpone once, then finally was able to host her. I've had a little time to think about the journeys TC has made and the artists who have explored their home habitats with her and painted her portrait.

It is so neat to imagine her traveling the world, gently handled by artistic hands and then carefully bundled and mailed
to the next destination.

Safe travels TC - and Bon Voyage!

And many thanks to Pandalana
for continuing to orchestrate this big adventure.

Traveling Chicken and the Cupcake

TC and the brood had quite a good time visiting Pa!!
She didn't know it at the time, but she was arriving to some huge excitement here!  We moved into a new house and studio!!  And TC was so excited to be our first guest!!

First thing first after playing with the puppy and relaxing in the spa....TC wanted to get to the studio!

Since she was so tired from her journey, she took herself out the studio door to the porch overlooking the vegetable garden.  Senior Gallo Azure and TC again rested...and who can blame them, the view is amazing, and the sounds of wildlife forced her to spend some serious time out there.

The next morning she woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to pose.  "But first," I said, "I need to bake cupcakes for a chicken party!"  I had a feeling TC would love cupcakes and a chicken party just for her!
So TC  perched herself right up on the cupcake to pose as Senior Gallo Azure smiled his charming little smile!!

"And They All Admired Her Spots"

Well, my visit with Ms. Chick went well for the most part.  We visited the Botanical Gardens and had a lovely day.  They next day we went to a local farm.  I thought she might enjoy meeting some new folks of her own kind, as she was feeling lonely after her travel companions left for Pennsylvania. But she experienced a strange reaction!  There was fowl play when the others all stood aside and exclaimed to each other "Look at those spots!"  "I wonder where she got them?"  "On Amazon do you think?".  Well, Ms. Chick felt as if she did not fit in, even though they were actually admiring her spots.  So we drove home, and she was pretty silent all the way.  But by the next morning, the day of her departure, she was back to her usual "sunny" self.   Safe journey, Miss Chick!

Traveling Chicken and Entourage Arrive in Downingtown, Pennsylvania

TC and entourage arrived safely in Downingtown, Pennsylvania!!  Thankfully, UPS alerted me by email that she had settled down in my mailbox, patiently waiting to be escorted to the house and studio.  I say thankfully because it was quite warm outside for a traveling chicken to be baking in the sun.

Avery (our lab puppy) and I made the long trek down to the mailbox to greet TC and friends.  They were quite relieved to be able to get out of their hot traveling compartment and socialize, that they did not even mind the puppy antics and kisses that Avery "forced" on them.

After a long play session with Avery, the chickens were hot and tired, but were up to exploring the rest of the house/yard and studio.  Tc and the gang perked up when they were offered a chance to sit by the spa (watergarden) to rest for a bit.  Meeting Mr. Bluefish, who governs the spa was the highlight of TC's day, much to Senior Gallo Azure's dismay....he was quite jealous of the attention she showered on Mr. Bluefish.

TC is tired from her travels, but assures me she is anxious to visit the studio tomorrow to have her portrait painted.....I promised her a chance to explore Downingtown with me afterward (we just moved here to Downingtown only a few weeks ago....a new house and new studio as well as a new town! TC and entourage are very enthusiastic to be the first to be invited into my studio, as well as to be in the first painting ever done in this brand new art studio!!)

One Adventurous Chick!

The Traveling Chick and her friends came for a short visit this weekend. Ms. Chick had lots of photos from previous travels. Two of the most interesting were Moscow and Alaska. Alaska was a bit harrowing because she ran across a wolf and could really relate to Little Red Riding Hood. Moscow was beautiful and very cultural. Many buildings are painted with pastel colors so as to alleviate the dreariness of the long cold winters. We could use some of that here in NE Illinois.

Beware of wolves in..well, wolves clothing!

Ms. Chick and friends will be traveling to Pennsylvania tomorrow. We had a relaxing visit and I took several pictures for painting this coming week.

Fledge Daily Painting #2208.5 by Lisa Daria

This bird (and company) arrived with quite the ambitious itinerary. Five days was just not enough time,
we barely had time to kayak with all the sightseeing. Luckily, the traveling chicken is also an early bird  and agreed to take part in my daily painting project, #2208.5 - Safe travels, chicken - thanks for visiting.

The Traveling Chicken

My contribution to the Traveling Chicken Project will have to be just this one.  I think it's a good one though huh?  But my, all the wiggling and trying to stay still... I must tell you it was all her idea to pose for this painting!  (The others were a little tired from their trip from Canada to Delaware...and then there was the mishap with the paparazzi...but don't ask them about it, cuz what happens in Delaware stays in Delaware.)

It's acrylic on a 5"x5" masonite board.  My blog is here

Finally! The Traveling Chicken & company have arrived in Delaware!

I have been eagerly awaiting my turn since November 2012!  I wanted to let you all know that they have arrived safe and sound from Canada...and await my attention on the shelf.  I won't keep them waiting long!

Oops, and this guy too!

T.C. had a blast in Nova Scotia!

It was very chilly the day T.C. and the gang arrived in Nova Scotia! They were so excited about their visit and wanted to begin exploring right away. T.C noticed activity outside my kitchen window and called the troupe to come join her on the window ledge. She was thrilled to see small yellow birds and thought they might be related since their feathers were the same beautiful yellow color.

Once everyone calmed down, we all sat with a nice hot cup of tea and chatted about their travels thus far. We all hoped the weather would get warmer during their stay so they could explore outdoors. During our chat, I asked T.C. if she would like to model for me in my studio. I told her I had just bought some beautiful smiling pansies and that she would look wonderful with them. She squealed at the idea and couldn't wait to frolic in the pansies in my studio. She thought it would be a bit like playing hide and seek.

T.C. was a perfect studio model. I must say she was much more cooperative than my pansies as they liked to change position over time. T.C. kept her pose and was very patient about the whole process.

T.C. Explores! 4x4in. Oil on linen/board. Reserved

After T.C.'s long studio session, everyone was anxious to explore the great outdoors! The weather had turned warmer during their stay and they all wanted to dash about before they began their long journey to Delaware in the United States.

Once again, T.C. spotted the color yellow and loved posing with her pals alongside the freshly bloomed dandelions. It was fun to watch them have a little group meeting, where they joked and laughed about all their escapades so far.

Before, I knew it they had made a mad dash over to my flower gardens. They all loved the cute little pansy faces and thought they looked charming nestled around them.

Our time passed too quickly! T.C. and her friends were very entertaining and kept me on my toes. At last it was time to say our good-byes. Safe travels T.C. and friends! Can't wait to read all about your future adventures.

Special thanks to Pandalana for taking over the administrative duties of this project. It is a fun way for artists all over the world to connect!

I would love to connect with you on Facebook ! Feel free to visit my online shop.  My T.C. painting is now being Reserved for a client who would like to see her. Thanks!

Warmly,
Debbie

MS CHICKS LITTLE SIS!

No, you are not seeing double - Ms Chick has a sister!  And she has agreed to help out if ever needed!
She is looking forward to seeing Ms Chick when she returns to the states, and has been following her travels.

MS CHICK'S LITTLE SISTER

Little Sister has been worried about Ms Chick at times.  It is such a big world out there and travel can be a bit dangerous.  You may have read this entry where she was smashed at a party:

http://travel-chicken.blogspot.com/2012/06/traveling-chicken-part-v-california.html

Or where she was a fugitive:

http://travel-chicken.blogspot.com/2015/03/ms-chick-is-fugitive.html

After the last mishap she decided to contact me to see if she could help; even if all she did was offer moral support.  She said she would hate to see this journey end; as so many are wanting to be part of the story.

Please stop by this wonderful Etsy shop: CAT BEAR EXPRESS and say hi and fav and shop if you think Ms Chick's sister is just the cutest ever.  This shop makes custom clay miniatures!  And, this is where Little Sister was born.

TC Arrives With Her Entourage in Nova Scotia!!

Our own yellow bird decided to hop on the ledge to see what all the commotion was about!

The Travelling Chicken was really excited to finally land in Nova Scotia!! Her entourage were giggling with delight when they were set free from their packing. It was a chilly day, so TC and the gang decided to sightsee from my window ledge.

Ms Chicken suddenly became very excited when she spotted these little yellow finches. She began clucking saying their feathers were the same beautiful color as hers. Everyone became quite noisy exclaiming "Yes they are T.C.!!"

While I made a hot pot of tea, my visitors continued to enjoy all the new friends that were coming to visit our bird feeders. Over tea, I asked T.C. if she would like to pose for me in my studio later. I told her I had bought some beautiful pansies to keep her company. She was delighted and really excited to see my studio! It is so much fun having all the gang here for a few days!
