Chicago to Quebec, Part VI

Post From Ann Feldman, Chicago:

Here's the latest on the traveling Troop of Chickens:  They arrived here in Chicago a few weeks ago from Jill's house.  The Little Yellow Chicken (or Le Petite Poulet as she is known in Quebec) accompanied me to Quebec City and Montreal for a week of sightseeing and listening to jazz at the International Jazz Festival.  Her feathers were a bit ruffled after she got re-routed to Newark for one night when the suitcase she was tucked into went to Quebec via the scenic route!  I tried to explain to her that it was for her own good that she spent the night in a sturdy shoe.

But all was very well after she was placed into many beautiful flower boxes for her portrait.  She even managed to be captured in a couple of toy store windows and restaurant table setups.  As her temporary host mom, I've been busy painting away, finishing up these little paintings now that we're home.

This is a painting of our dear chicken in a Quebec flower box.  Doesn't she look happy there?  She is a wonderful travel companion, and she picks up new languages quite easily-- "Le Clucque" is her favorite new phrase!

And now she is with Karen Stitt in California.  Looking forward to hearing how she's doing!

  1. OMG! I am sooo excited to meet this famous little gal! I can hardly wait! I hope she doesn't find her stay here in the country at the Sandarosa too boring after all the excitement and fun filled days she's just had vacationing with you, Ann! I hope her entourage will all be accompanying her as well!!! Your painting is magically beautiful!! You've captured TC's beautiful soul in this piece. I can't wait to see more paintings and photos from her stay with you!! Woo Hoo! A traveling chicken . . . Who would have thought!? Thanks Jill, Ann and all you TC participants, for all the fun!

  3. Okay, I want to be the chicken!!!! I've never been to Quebec or Montreal or gone to a jazz festival, International or otherwise, or even spent the night in Newark! She's so spoiled and she probably doesn't appreciate any of it! I know when she was at my house she had an attitude. Well, actually, it was her predecessor but still.....

  4. Love the painting Ann!! It looks like my little hen is having a whale of a time, like Nancy I am green with envy at the places she has travelled to,and yet to see.I am having so much fun learning each stage of her travels and more importantly how each talented artist is painting their own version. My original idea was to bring people together in the art world and its working!!

  5. I just heard about the Traveling Chicken, and her dare-devil adventures around the world, from Sandy Dandy. Would the Peripatetic Poultry consider a trip to Lotus Land, near Vancouver, B.C???

    1. Hi Kathryn. The chick could most definitely visit your neck of the woods! Would you be interested in joining the journey? I could put you on the Waiting List on the blog - it's not very long just yet, but I'm guessing it will grow with some time. I don't think this little chick will ever tire of traveling. Let me know!
